Hard at work on their hit CW series, the stars of “Gossip Girl” were busy filming scenes in Central Park in Midtown Manhattan on Monday afternoon (October 5).

As Blake Lively and Chace Crawford teamed up to film at an ice cream stand, their co-stars Ed Westwick and Leighton Meester strolled through the scenic setting as cameras rolled.

Meanwhile, you can catch an all-new “Gossip Girl” episode titled “Dan de Fleurette” when it airs tonight at 9/8C on The CW.

A synopsis via the show’s Web site tells: “It’s the first day of school at Constance Billard which means it’s also time for Jenny to take her rightful place as the new Queen Bee. Unfortunately for Jenny, Blair is more than happy to intervene when news reaches her that she may be needed back at Constance. Meanwhile, Lily returns home to Rufus and her family to find that things are definitely not as she left them. Plus, a famous movie actress, Olivia Burke (recurring guest star Hilary Duff), enrolls at NYU in hopes of having a somewhat normal college experience, and is assigned to be Vanessa’s roommate. Guest star Tyra Banks appears as Ursula, an actress co-starring in Olivia’s movie and someone who Serena befriends.”

Here it is, the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Hilary Duff joins the cast of Gossip Girl! She looks kinda like … Hilary Duff, only on Gossip Girl.

Duff’s character, Olivia, is a movie star trying to live the typical college life. Assigned to be Vanessa’s (Jessica Szohr) roommate at NYU – their dorm room is the setting of the photo below – Olivia gets to know Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley).

Olivia becomes attracted to Dan, and vica versa. Of course, there’s a twist: Dan is so tuned out to pop culture that he doesn’t realize the girl he’s falling for is a huge star famous for her role in a Twilight-esque series of vampire movies.

So that’s like Dan not knowing who Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are. Come to think of it, that sounds kind of like Dan. It just might work.

They’ve been hard at work, getting new episodes ready for the upcoming season of “Gossip Girl,” and earlier today (July 22) the CW stars were spotted out in Manhattan.

Leighton Meester and Blake Lively filmed scenes together on the Upper East Side, both looking summertime sexy as the cameras rolled.

Also on the set was Ed Westwick who sported a handsome and hunky ensemble including a startched shirt and tie combo with suspenders and pleated trousers. Elsewhere, he was seen wearing a Superman t-shirt and jeans.

And Chace Crawford, Joanna Garcia, and Jessica Szohr also reported for duty this morning to film their own respective parts for the new episode.

Blake Lively is known for wearing ridiculously sexy outfits on the set of Gossip Girl, but the 21-year-old star doesn’t do anything special to look good in them.

How much do you hate her right now, ladies?

“I do panic before I have to wear a really skimpy outfit, but I don’t have enough willpower,” she says of dieting in the August issue of UK Glamour Magazine.

“I had to do a scene in a bra and shorts for the first time in two years … On the day of the shoot, I ate a pork burrito, chips and a coke. Afterwards, I thought, ‘I probably shouldn’t have done that.’ But hey, whatever.”

So maybe she doesn’t eat right, but she exercises, right?

“I have never worked out, but I know you always feel better when you do,” the blonde Burbank, Calif., native says, “so I’m planning on getting a trainer.”

Lively says despite all the cattiness that exists in Gossip Girl, on and off the set, she gets along very well with her costars: “We hang out after filming, and actually look forward to spending time together outside of work.”

That includes her real-life leading man Penn Badgley, although she admits it wasn’t always the case – she was unhappy when he was cast on the series at first.

“At first I was so upset that they hired him,” she says.

“I actually poisoned the whole cast against him. But then they noticed that he was not a jerk and was actually a really nice, charming person. Almost immediately I realized that too, but it took me about a week to admit it.”
